Microneedling is one of the most effective treatments we offer for skin renewal, but it has accumulated some persistent myths. Here is what is actually true.

“It must be painful”

This is the one we hear most. Microneedling does create micro-injuries in the skin — that is exactly how it works — but we apply a topical numbing cream before every session. The sensation is mildly uncomfortable at most, and most clients tolerate it easily. If you have had waxing, you have experienced something more uncomfortable than a well-managed microneedling treatment.

“There will be a lot of bleeding”

Well-administered microneedling produces tiny, controlled micro-injuries. These stimulate collagen without causing significant bleeding. Needle depth is adjusted carefully for each area and each client’s skin. You may see minor pinpoint bleeding in isolated spots — that is normal and expected — but it is not a bloody procedure.

“It is only for the face”

Microneedling works wherever you have skin. We regularly treat the neck, décolletage, hands, and scalp. It is particularly useful for stretch marks on the abdomen or thighs. If you have a concern in a specific area, it is worth asking whether microneedling applies.

“It is only for older skin”

Microneedling helps with texture, tone, acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines, and stretch marks — concerns that are not age-specific. Clients in their twenties use it for acne scarring. Clients in their fifties use it for collagen support. There is no minimum age (though there is a clinic policy around minors).

“The recovery is too long”

Most clients experience mild redness and minor swelling that resolves within one to two days. You can resume normal activities immediately after treatment. We recommend avoiding intense sun exposure and some active skincare ingredients for a short window, but there is no extended downtime.

Microneedling is a safe, effective, and customizable treatment — when it is performed by trained providers using proper technique and equipment.
