Chemical peels have a reputation. Some people picture flaking skin and a week hiding at home. Some have had a peel that irritated them and sworn them off entirely. But a well-chosen peel, applied by someone who knows your skin, is one of the most effective treatments we offer.
What a peel actually does
A chemical peel uses a carefully selected solution to exfoliate the skin — breaking down dead surface cells and triggering the skin to renew itself. Depending on the peel depth, it also signals collagen production below the surface.
The result: improved texture, more even tone, reduced appearance of fine lines, clearer skin, better hydration, and real radiance.
Not all peels are the same
This is where most of the reputation confusion comes from. There is a significant difference between a light lunchtime peel and a medium-depth treatment.
Light peels like our Stimulator Peel have minimal downtime. Skin may look slightly pink for a day. Peeling, if any, is subtle. These are safe to do regularly.
Medium peels like the 3-Step Peel produce visible peeling that typically begins 24–72 hours after treatment and continues for several days. The results are more dramatic — and worth the recovery if your skin and timeline allow it.
Who should consider a peel
Peels work well for:
- Uneven pigmentation and sun damage
- Active acne and post-acne marks
- Rough or dull texture
- Fine surface lines
They are not the right choice for everyone. Some skin tones require extra care with certain acids, and some skin conditions make peels contraindicated.
Our approach
We do not recommend a specific peel at a consultation and assume it will be right. We look at your skin, ask about your history, and match the peel to what your skin can tolerate and what your goals require.
The peel that is right for you may look nothing like what your friend had. That is by design.
If you have been curious about peels but unsure where to start, come in for a consultation. We will be honest about what will help and what to avoid.
